dhampyresa: (Bad Wolf)
I seem to have fallen deep down the musical rabbit hole, because I had a dream about a Second Punic War musical and all I can remember about it is that Aemilia stole the show (her anger was a thing of beauty), Tanith had an entire song where she was murderously gleeful about something and Maharbal's big song was called "You know how to win" and that is literally all I've got, which is a crying shame.

I've been backreading some entries (and still ahve some more backreading to do), so if you get random comments that would be why. In the process, I've discovered my yuletide letter crossposted half a dozen times to my LJ, so I'm sorry about that. I'll see what I can do to fix it.

I wrote four fics for Trick or Treat. I wanted to write more, but then Life.

I wrote two for my recip:

New Light (387 words) by sevenofspade
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Avatar: Legend of Korra
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Korra/Asami Sato
Characters: Korra (Avatar), Asami Sato
Additional Tags: Spirit World, Post-Canon
Summary: Korra takes Asami on a tour.

LA? No, Miami (511 words) by sevenofspade
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Marvel 616
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Tommy Shepherd, Cassie Lang

Tommy runs into someone from his past.

Then I wrote two treats:

Favours (703 words) by sevenofspade
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Percy Jackson and the Olympians & Related Fandoms - All Media Types
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Thalia Grace, Nico di Angelo
Summary:

It's the Hunters of Artemis, not the Hunter of Artemis. Plural, not singular. Luckily, Thalia knows a dude.

(I probably shouldn't be amused that this fic already has more comments than The Oracles on the Delphi Express, but I am.)

Capitoline Wolf (509 words) by sevenofspade
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Ancient History RPF
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Hannibal Barca, Scipio Africanus
Additional Tags: Werewolves
Summary:

Surprise! The wolves are not a metaphor.

(One day, there will be a fic written in this fandom in an exchange that will be written neither by me nor for me and on that day I will get my tiny mind fucking blown, but today is not this day.)
dhampyresa: (Sad Cassie is sad)
Hi! Welcome to Meta Monday, in which I go tl;dr about stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] ladymercury_10 :Maybe your favorite/least favorite things about [Young Avengers]? And/or how your feelings differ between the different runs?

My favourite thing about Young Avengers is probably how hard all of them try to do the right thing and how brave they all are. My least favourite thing is the deaths.

I have a lot of varying feelings on the different runs, though.

I don't have feelings; And I don't hold hands. )

Which reminds me. Does anyone know where Eli got to?

Because it's been ages since I saw him in a comic. Even the recent Battleworld AU/whetever we're calling this current Marvel event didn't have him in the Young Avengers issue. (Everyone ever appears to be pretending Jonas never existed. Boo.)

Also, my favourite Young Avengers fic has now been Jossed, but remains forever amazing, so I'm going to rec it once more.

reclaiming her star (6582 words) by NightsMistress
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Young Avengers
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Cassie Lang
Additional Tags: post volume 2, shameless fix-it fic
Summary:

It's not the coming back to life that's hard, Cassie learns, but adjusting to what has happened after she died.

I hope that at least somewhat answered the questions!

Next time, I'll be talking about writing a novel. (The Meta Monday Masterpost is here. If you want me to talk about anything, let me know over there.)
dhampyresa: (Sad Cassie is sad)
Everything under a cut, for reasons of spoilers for Avengers World #16, but I called it y'all! And nobody can say I didn't, because the fics are posted and one of them's from 2012, so there.

There's no feeling quite like writing something into a fic and then having that thing show up in canon )

I still can't quite believe it. I've been waiting so long for this. So long. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

So yeah, this is what I've been reading today.
dhampyresa: (Sad Cassie is sad)
Cassie Lang's coming back to life next Wednesday!

This means if I ever want to post those fix-it fics for her death, I have to do it now. It's a good thing all I needed to do was spell-check them, right? (Yeah, they've been sitting virtually finished on my hard-drive for months. I'm very bad at the posting thing.)

The Uncertainty Principle by [archiveofourown.org profile] sevenofspade (Young Avengers/Young Justice (Cartoon); Cassie Lang, Wally West; gen; 2 580 words)
There's no such thing as "dead" when you're a physicist. Blame Schrödinger. Cassie and Wally certainly do.
Also known as the physics!fic. In which I make a bunch of terrible physics jokes and bring thought experiments to life. This doubles as a fix-it for Wally's death in the Young Justice cartoon too. It's choose-your-own-adventure, because nothing says quantum physics like alternate state of beings all valid at the same time.

The Nameless City by [archiveofourown.org profile] sevenofspade (Young Avengers/FF (Comics); Cassie Lang, Victor von Doom; gen; 3 101 words)
Or: "Doctor Doom and Stature's Excellent Adventure"

This is a sort-of spin-off to Strange Aeons (and together they make up the entirety so far of the The Adventures in Baby-Sitting of Victor von Doom series). Cassie and Doctor Doom team-up to restore the timeline, save her life and punch Cthulhu in the face. Features references to Lovecraft (including the title) and a Tolkien quote.

Doctor Doom being a big nerd who watches Star Trek is canon, by the way.

Spider-Man and Doctor Doom nerd out about Star Trek

So there.

(I guess I'm going to have to retire this icon, if Cassie's coming back to life.)

dhampyresa: (Sad Cassie is sad)
So! Way back in October/September 2012, Journey into Mystery was ending and it was announced that both kid!Loki and Kate Bishop would be in the new Young Avengers series. I took a stab at a fancomic for this team-up (and then there were more team-ups). I drew and wrote the whole thing, but I never ended up inking or colouring it. I'm certainly not doing it now, because the art is so old; I feel like I should redo the whole thing and I remember how sick of it I was when I drew it the first time and that was 18+ months ago.

I kind of forgot about it until [livejournal.com profile] ericadawn16 reminded be of it with a comment on something else, so I pulled up Photoshop and added word ballons to the original artwork, did a couple of edit-y things to it (not much, i'm working with a mouse, it's not easy) and now I'm posting it.

The lay-out is two pages at once, so you should only read until the middle mark, then down, then up at the middle mark. Like if you were holding it as a book (this is because of formatting and the double-page spreads).

With commentary, because why not )

So there you have it, the reason I am not a comics professional.

dhampyresa: (Sad Cassie is sad)
Title: Perfects and Innocents
Fandom: Young Avengers
Characters: Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, Tommy Shepherd, assorted Young Avengers (all of them) and various Marvel comics characters
Warnings: Chose not to use
Spoilers: Not really
Word Count: 8 257
Summary: A Children's Crusade AU. By which I mean: The year is 1212 and they're all headed for the Holy Land.
Author's Note:I wrote this way back when the end of Young Avengers: Children's Crusade was coming out in single issues, so late 2011 to 2012. I've never posted it before and actually kind of forgotten I'd written it until [personal profile] schneefink reminded me. It pretty much started so I could make the joke in the summary and I haven't done much more than run spellcheck on it before posting it here.

Did you know the Children's Crusade happened at the same time as the Albigensian Crusade? )
dhampyresa: (Epic shit happening on the internet)
The fic I wrote is Training Wheels in which America Chavez lands in 616 at the start of Young Avengers v1, but who cares about that when you could be reading the fic I got instead? It's reclaiming her star and it is AMAZING. It's a post-Young Avengers v2 fix-it for Cassie Lang and it had her being friends with Tommy and looking up to Kate and sharing a metrocard with Loki. Go. Read it. It's 6.5k of sheer brilliance.

Quick breakdown for March )

, Dear [community profile] beyondpanels author, thank you! I genuinely love all of these fandoms and would love absolutely anything you write in any of them. Seriously, I mean it. If that's all you wanted to know, fell free to stop reading right now. If, however, you'd like a better idea of my general likes and dislikes and specific prompts for specific fandoms, read on.

My previous letters are here and my ao3 account is here.

General information )

But none of this as important to me as you having fun writing, so use (or don't) any an all parts of this letter.
