I will comment on my gift here and for fandom5k over the weekend because (a) my dad is in the hospital as off today and (b) my shoulder hella hurts.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

I went to the doctor yesterday like "how come I am so tired all of the time?" and got a prescription for a blood test, some vitamin D and some medical imaging (this last one in case it's my recurring issue acting up -- which it kind of has, but that could just be because I'm tired). In retrospect, I should probably have mentionned that occasionally I crave salt to the truly ludicrous extent of pouring table salt into my hand and eating it like that, but until tonight I hadn't really craved salt in a while so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So yeah. I've been feeling so tired lately and for the past, idk, two months or so. The kind of tired where you're too tired to fall asleep, which is kind of counterproductive, self.

I have the brain power to watch video and that's pretty much it. I hate it.


I need to get of my ass and send L the "fake dating for great justice" fic to beta. L being in a weird zone of only somewhat familar with canon, I think getting a second opinion on character voices might help. Then again I could also maybe use another opinion on pacing/story progression from someone completely unfamiliar with canon (the Clone Wars cartoon) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯


Fandom wise, here are a couple things I've heard about recently taht could be fun fantasybig_bang , xx_relations_xx and bravenewbork . I'm considering signing up for maythe4thbewithyou and fandom5k . If I have enough energy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Night on Fic Mountain should, barring exceptional circumstances, happen again this year. I'm currently brainstorming a slight rule change/addition and would prefer to only go live once that's done.

I have a MASSIVE thing for enemies who care about and respect each other and those two hit it IN SPADES. Feel free to have them meet at times they haven't (as far as we know) met, like after Cannae or Zama. Anything expanding on the meeting at Ephesus would also be brilliant. I am, always and forever, of the opinion that they both faked their own deaths to elope together. The AU in which they're both Roman! Or both Carthaginian! The AU in which they switch places. The AU in which it is a Pun-ic War (I LIKE PUNS). An AU in which the war goes differently -- maybe Rome surrenders after Cannae. Slavish devotion to historical accuracy not required! I'm looking for fic, not a research paper. (The tag for this fandom is here.)


Campaign (Podcast) (Any of: Tamlin Jorun, Bacta (Campaign), Synox, Avaa Arek, Lyntel’luroon)

I LOVE THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL SPACE FAMILY WITH ALL MY HEART (Also, when Lyn got confirmed as canonically queer I texted a friend immediately -- she is is the queer alien Indiana Jones of my heart. MORE LYN ON SPACE ARCHEOLOGY ADVENTURES!) Tamlin is THE CUTEST and the Tamlin-narrated noir episodes are probably my favourites -- I have a very real weakness for noir. Bacta is very good at giving me clone feelings (and lol forever at the "I like your voice" exchange with Zevowk). Also, the "Bacta Basics" podcast totally exists in-universe; what's not to love about a fact-based podcast ran by fugitives from the Empire. Leenik's friendship with Avaa is endlessly charming (her and Zero is also A++). I would love something about Synox and the animated program he's on -- wait. What if Tamlin's a fan? (The tag for this is my general Star Wars tag.)


Yoko Tsuno (Comics) (Yoko Tsuno/Khany)

I'd love something about how Khany and Yoko keep being ultimate-long-distance (girl)friends! Role reversal AU! Khany the human, Yoko the Vinean. A canon-divergent AU in which the Vineans didn't leave Earth and/or went public over their own existence. Fix-it for Le dragon de Hong Kong. Timetravel! 100% guaranteed Vinea has the tech somewhere and why should Yoko get all the fun? Vinea (and surrounding space) travelogue. Something about the telepathic communication headbands malfunctionning, be that losing all communication or amplifying too much communications. Vinea and Earth vs The Galactic Empire (or other bad guys). AU in which Yoko is trapped on Vinea. Also I like the robots. (My tag for this fandom is here.)

I'll be going to the Louvre to see the Darth Vader/Hercules exhibit* at some point this week-end. Does anyone want me to look at anything for them?

With the caveat that they evacuated some of the collections due to the flood in early June and some are still closed.


* Mythes fondateurs. D’Hercule à Dark Vador ("Founding myths. From Hercules to Darth Vader") but like I was going to pass up calling it "the Darth Vader/Hercules exhibit", because how often do you get to say "Darth Vader/Hercules" and have it be even vaguely relevant? Not enough.

Gwen Variants (Marvel Comics Covers)
No nominated characters

The canon is a series of variant covers Marvel put out last year to promote the Spider-Gwen comic launch. Each cover reimagines Gwen Stacy as one (or more) Marvel character.

I like Gwen Stacy a lot. I think she's super smart and really kind and amazingly brave, be that in Spider-Gwen or the movies or Ults Spidey. I love canon-adjacent AUs too, especially role reversal AUs (I hesitate to call these canon-divergent, but they could be!), so this fandom is basically two great tastes that taste great together!

The Loki + Verity friendship is a thing of beauty and I love it so much. This series has a brilliant narrative about the role of stories in our lies and what it means to be a Trickster. It's about Loki achieving redemption, at long last and on his terms (long version here).

OR TIMETRAVEL ADVENTURES, why should Yoko get all the fun timetravelling, I'm sure the Vineans have the tech somewhere.

I would love it forever if you wrote any sort of Vinean worldbuilding. What's it like for Khany to be older than her mom and have her twin be six years old?

I love the bittersweetness and the sense of loss and missed opportunities in this one and how alien Ariel is and the completely new way it makes me look at the events of the play and the Miranda in is brilliant (even though she's not in it much, because this is Ariel's show and what a show it is). I love the cyclical nature of it too!
