On Tuesday I came home from work, decided to lie down for a bit because I was feeling sick and woke up with my alarm the following day, having slept 12 entire hours and still feeling as ill and tired. On Wednesday I had to stop halfway up a flight of stairs because I was feeling faint. But who gives a shit, amirite? /is bitter about things

On Wednesday, [community profile] nightonficmountain creators got revealed.

Somehow I never got around to posting about the gift I got. So here it is:

Two frenemies talk trash over chat about the most important event of the premodern world: EUROVISION!!!

The person I was assigned to defaulted and so that left me time to focus on picking up pinch-hits. I picked up one of the lingering pinch-hits, blasted my way through the Kill Six Billion Demons webcomic (A++ def reccomend) and produced art as a result.

(Also, I would like to stop biting myself to the blood several times a day, ffs.)

I did my bit, everything else is out of my hands. AND NOW I CAN DO SOMETHING ELSE -- if at all possible, I am not spending (almost) every waking moment focused on a thing because then I end up dreaming of the thing at night too and NOPE.

Anyway, I have some stuff left to do before I leave for Great Britain. Like, idk, making sure I have somewhere to sleep that isn't the underside of a bridge or that I have some way to return that isn't "swim across the Channel!".

On the fandom-y side of things, I need to change the rules for History Exchange -- to my shame there is a grievous oversight there and I need to fix it and check if I need to change the rules for NoFM too -- and reveal the collection once that's done. I also have a fic I'd like to finish before I leave, which will probably be finished -- hell, maybe even two if I ever figure out how to finish that one fic about the ghost of Anakin Skywalker on Starkiller base.

Speaking of Star Wars! And Great Britain! And various other Earth-bound locations! I have decided I'll refer to places I travel to by the names of Star Wars planets, because why not. So I live in Coruscant, travel regularly to Ahch-To to Tatooine and spend several months on each of Alderaan and Pantora.

Point being. In that frame of reference, what do I call Great Britain? Or even places within Great Britain? Or any other location? (This can be very specific or vague -- I mean, Coruscant, Ahch-To and Tatooine are all in the same country.)

dhampyresa: (Quit killing people)
My [community profile] fandom_stocking is over here!

I've also finished the first draft of my yuletide assignment. I'm pretty sure it's already the longest exchange fic I've ever written and I still need to replace the [look this up later to make appropriate reference]s. I hope I'm doing these characters justice, because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

For the yuletide treat I'm writing, I also love the characters so much, but they are being such idiots right now. *bongs some heads together*

I'm back, sort of. I want to sleep forever.

I have learned how to make jam, but I seem to have lost the ability to draw anything. I have all these great images in my head and they disappear as soon as I pick up a pencil (and reappear as soon as I let go). Not just that, but even my basic sense of anatomy and proportion is out of whack. I can't draw curves or straight lines the way I want. I've forgotten everything I ever learned about composition. I can't draw and I hate it. I hate it SO MUCH. It feels like a part of me is missing

I'm going to go forth and catch up on what I've missed over the next couple of days.

I'm going to have intermittent internet for the newt week, then no internet at all. The no-internet is due to visiting family and the intermittent-internet was supposed to happen at the same time, but is starting early instead (as in, this evening). Sorry about that.

Doubly sorry to anyone I owe replies/comments to. Have a picture of a statue of Hannibal that's in the Tuileries, instead?

(I was in the Tuileries, the light was wonderful and I had no idea they had a statue of Hannibal. I like Hannibal. And no one was surprised.) )

3 things!

1. I'm moving to the DCU come February. Watch out Gotham, here I come! All joking aside, I'll be spending the second semester of this year in Dublin City University, so if anyone wants to meet up or has any rcs on things to see or whatever, pleas let me know.

2. I wrote 5 ficlets for [community profile] fandom_stocking . I wanted to draw some things, but I couldn't get them scanned.

3. I got a card for [community profile] trope_bingo :

I didn't realise the December talking meme was a thing until December had started, so I'll do it in January, instead. I'm a rebel.

So you know, ask me about stuff! New Year's Resolution! Top 5s of 2013! Top 10s ever! Top 42s! Thoughts on the Hippocratic Oath! What am I currently watching! How long is the WIP list! What's it like being French in fandom! Anything, really. (But please ask me something, or I will spend the whole month talking about obscure French comic books asking questions to y'all and nobody wants that.)

Days! )

I have also joined [community profile] inkingitout , a comm to reach a yearly wordcout goal. Mine is 200k. That averages at about 550 words a day, which is totally doable, yes.

Also, does anyone know how to crosspost from LJ to DW instead of DW to LJ? (I am terrible at this journaling thing.)

dhampyresa: (Gwen Stacy)
And I claim full credit.

[livejournal.com profile] dudski has a very nice and detailed post about every step of the whole thing. I never thought I'd ever be mentionned in anything ressembling a wank report, but this makes me look like a hero coming in after the last minute to save the day so I'm okay with it.

It's true that Gwen was announced as being back in in answer to my comment, but I think if had been anyone else making that comment, the result would have been the same.

I hesitated to post it, because I didn't want to impose. Then they kept replying to other inquiries. So I posted. Between the moment I started my comment and the moment I posted, an offer to include characters missing from nominations was made. I came back to edit it in into my comment and change my icon to my Gwen Stacy icon (in case anyone was curious what the edit was).

Then I wandered away, because I didn't expect a reply at all, much less a positive one.

In all honesty, I was resigned to Gwen not making it in this year. I just wanted to show people, when they'd be looking back on this years from now (because you know they will), that Gwen Stacy fans weren't making unreasonable demands.

As a result of me walking away from the computer, yuletide-coal reacted to Gwen getting in faster than I did. (Also, I love that this thread is just above the previous.)

That's pretty much how the end of it unfolded from my point of view. I'm just really glad Gwen got in, you guys! And I can now add wanker defender of justice on my LJ CV, so there is that.

Also, I'm naming my new PC Gwen, because since I'm transferring all the memory, it will essentially be the same PC with a different casing and if this yuletide has told me anything it's that "same memory =/= same person", apparently.

In conclusion: GWEN ♥!

(Sorry if this post shows up twice, LJ's being weird.)
dhampyresa: (Epic shit happening on the internet)
First of all, thank you for writing for me. Second, I will probably be away from the computer over the Christmas-to-New Year period, so don't worry if I don't comment on your story right away. Thirdly, I'm kind of terrible at coming up with prompts, so this letter will mostly be reposting my Ao3 sign-up and gushing about the canons and why I love them so much.

This is my first year doing Yuletide so if I do something wrong, like not having enough prompts or something, feel free to drop me a line.

Feel free to poke around my LJ. My Ao3 account is sevenofspade. It's not very up to date.

In general, I like plot over introspection. I would also prefer something happy, but do what you want. Porn tends to bore on its own, but I don't mind it as part of a story. I love love love anything pertaining to mythology and folklore, so if you want to write me a fic that reads like a fairytale? That would be awesome. I'm a big fan of canon-divergent/what-if AUs so that would also be cool. I also tend to be more of a gen person, but if you want to write me femslash (or het or slash or relationships involving non-gendered people or more than one person)? I would be totally cool with that.

Actually, you can take this as a rec for all of those canons. Also, here be spoilers.

Dogma (1999) )

X-Club )

Wind on Fire - William Nicholson )

Choice of Broadsides )

Everything in this letter is optional, write whatever you want and I will gladly read it. It should be apparent that I really really love those canons and so, I will read anything.

I've returned to the inetrnet. My absence lasted longer than I thought it would because of family reasons. Fortunately, that seems to be clearing up now.

Over that period, I got my dad into Discworld, my brother into Game of Thrones and my mother into Leverage. I've also reconnected with old friends.

Not a bad summer, all in all.
dhampyresa: (Default)
I'm leaving the country for the next month or so for family reasons. I don't know how much access to Internet/emails/LJ I'll be able to get. So that's what's up if you don't hear from me for a while.
dhampyresa: (Default)
I want to make a LJ community for all mythologies. It would have fic. It would have discusssion. It would have a book club! And polls about who would win between Gilgamesh and Loki, or Morrigan and Amaterasu, or Eris and Seth!

Except a)no one else would be interested and b)I don't know where to advertise about it.

I finally remembered my livejournal account password.

Brief summary of the last year and a half or so: Medschool is going meh, I've started watching Supernatural, Lost Girl, Leverage, Eternal Law, Sherlock and continued watching Doctor Who. and Torchwood. I've read dozens of books (if not more) and hundreds of fics (again, probably more). I've read comics. I've not drawn as much as I would like. I've written upwards of 30k words but have not finished more than one or two things (oops).

That's mostly it, really.

The (slightly) more detailed version )
dhampyresa: (Default)

Okay, so I've been sick for the last two days. On the plus side, it seems to be clearing up and I found this while poking in old files on my computer.

Hi everyone!

I made public a few (fic) entries for the Friending meme, so feel free to poke around.

By the way, here's where my username comes from. Yes, because I am totally a vampire, yes.

Also, people I said I would write/draw/do something for, or even mentionned something, could you remind me? I'm making a to do list (I'll write you something if you ask me).
dhampyresa: (Default)
Over at [livejournal.com profile] aphanon_meme.

Anon was sad. So I wrote fic for anon. (I mention this because I used to be the one needing cheering up.)

Balkan bathrooms )

How about you f-list? How was your day?
dhampyresa: (Default)
The very nice folks over at [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_fr are making an Advent calendar. This my contribution.

I know most people on my f-list don't speak French, but given that this an anonymous event, I'm keeping this f-locked until it's over.

The french itself shouldn't be too hard since I've tried to write it like a fairy tale, for the most part.

Summary: The history of Scandinavia (mostly Denmark with hints of other countries) seen through the eyes of Denmark, from the origins to the protestant Reformation.

Due to family/personal reasons, I am going to have a very spotty access to Internet/a computer for next couple of weeks.

I apologise in advance if it is going to look like I'm dead, and for not talking to you guys. I'm going to miss you, because you're all awesome.

Hopefully, this won't show too much. (Lunchtime breaks, anyone?)
dhampyresa: (Default)
I recently started watching that series. And... well, the fact I watched 2 and a half seasons of it in just about as many weeks should tell you something about how muchI like it.

So, yes. Very much so. Yes Yes YES!

Having finished watching both parts of "The Boiling Rock", I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I am nearing the conclusion which is great because it is going to be EPIC, but on the other hand, I am nearing the conclusion which is not so great because it means it'll all be over soon which kinda sucks.

I have questions and issues with it still, and theories to solve some of them. And many comments. I write that up when I'm done watching it entirely. In the meantime, don't spoil it for me.

(By the way, I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] meltedpeep for convincing me to check out this show. (Here or more precisely, there) Thanks, peep, I owe you one.)
