HAVE I TOLD Y'ALL HOW MUCH I LOVE MAD MAX:FURY ROAD YET?

I don't think I have, because I keep going "...No, I gotta see it one more time before I post about it". F-list, I have now seen this movie FIVE TIMES and it is still as shiny and chrome as the first time and I keep noticing new things every time.

Do you like: Explosions? Action scenes? A vast array of female characters who are all badass in there own way (and I guess Max was there also)? You will love this movie.

This movie basically answers every "why" with "WHY NOT *flamethrowing guitar riff*".

If nothing else it is utterly utterly visually gorgeous. And I love Angharad and Capable and Toast and the dag and Furiosa and Cheedo and Valkyrie and the Keeper of Seeds and all of them so much.

(Mad props to the people who did the subtitles, because they manage to sneak in EVEN MORE WORLDBUILDING. Mad props to everyone involved.)

It is SUCH A GOOD FILM. Honestly, I can't think of a single thing I would change. It was just perfect, and made me so happy.

THIS MOVIE WAS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED FROM REVIEWS AND MORE.

Seriously, it was such a mind-blowing experience that after I left the theater from the first viewing I was so overwhelmed by what I had just seen. I never expected something like Mad Max: Fury Road to bring me so much joy in the manner of visual and subtle storytelling, but it brought that and so much more. The characters, the world-building, the music, everything going above and beyond with practical effects and being so out there and wild and beautiful.

Just, so much love. ♥

I KNOW RIGHT? IT WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE

I was utterly blown away too. No lie, I have seen it so many times in part to make sure it's really real.

It's such a great movie!

And oh, I'm curious about what they added with the subtitles?

IT SO IS

First there's the fact that Guzzoline got translated as "Petrogaspi" and shortened from that pretty much throughout as "Gaspi", which is slang for "gaspillage" which essentially means "waste/boondoggle" so it lended an extra level of irony and hinted at interesting thought processes that might have lead to using "petrogaspi" instead of "essence".

The other big one is "le Moulin à balles" (the bullet mill) for the Bullet Farm and "le meunier" (the miller) for the Bullet Farmer. To me 'mill' evokes, well, WINDmills, implying that the Bullet Farm uses wind power to operate.

The last thing I can recall at this late hour is Nux saying "le arbre" instead of "l'arbre" when talking about the tree. IDK, I thought it brought up some interesting linguistic possibilities?

Those are really cool choices! Thank you for mentioning them; I hadn't heard about them elsewhere.

You're welcome! To be fair, I don't think there are that many French people in fandom (I try to make a point of mentioning things the subs do, because it is part of how I get to experience movies on the big screen, some of you may find it interesting and most importantly, they rarely get to get credit for clever things they do).
