Hi and thank you for writing for me! I’m sure whatever you write will be excellent. (Just don’t ask me to name what genres the songs are, because I am pants at that.)
I have three DNWs: incest, rape and child abuse.
On the other hand, there are a lot of things I do want. Here’s a partial list. (I obviously don’t expect you to stick all of these in one story, that would be impossible.)
• Plot. I prefer it to both introspection and porn, but it doesn’t have to be a massive epic.
• Hopeful and/or bittersweet endings, just not the unrelenting grim darkness of the far future
• FRIENDSHIP FIC. You can never go wrong with friendship fic as far as I’m concerned.
• Femslash, gen, het, poly and slash! I'm honestly not difficult.
• Dinosaurs.
• IN SPAAAAAAAAACE AUs
• Historical AUs
• Fandom AUs
• Crack taken seriously.
• People on opposite side who care about each other! Whether it's enemies-turned-(grudging)-friends or friends-turned-(grudging)-enemies or any other variation on this theme, I love this trope very dearly.
• Superpowers!
• Timetravel!
• Worldbuilding! Fuck yeah, worldbuilding.
• Folktales/fairytales/etc.
And now for some specific prompts! Even though I’m not wedded to any of them and wouldn’t mind at all if you wrote something else.

I feel like the story from this song/music video is pretty straightforward (and never fails to make me cry). Maybe a story about what happens after? It could be a ghost story! Or not. I don’t think there’s much room for moving the story in time, but if you want to write a complete AU (fantasy? Magical realism?) that would be super cool.

This is the bit where I confess that I nommed the Nolwenn Leroy version of the song because it always makes me see the Prisoner as a woman (pronouns be damned) and a f/f version of this song speaks to my soul. That aside, I’ve always wondered if the Prisoner ever did return to Nantes to marry the Gaoler’s Daughter? And like backstory fic would be great. How did the Prisoner end up in jail in the first place? Why is the Gaoler’s Daughter the only one to visit?
(Totally optional: I kind of headcanon this song as taking place in the same universe as Juste pour me souvenir (lyrics) and Rentrer en Bretagne (lyrics), with those being songs sung from the PoV of the Gaoler’s Daughter and the Prisoner, respectively.)

Oh man, I really want the story where the devil does return, more than once and in the process becomes friends with Johnny. I have a great fondness in my heart for the Failboat Devil, which is the name I give this archetype of ‘down on his luck devil who gets outwitted by humans’ (see also The Widow by the Poozies), so anything about that would be super great. Maybe this is the same devil that made the deal with Robert Johnson?

I find the aesthetic of this music video fascinating especially with it relates to the song. The whole post-apocalyptic troubadour thing? Amazing. I want fic about their adventures across the radioactive wasteland or fic about how the world became the radioactive wastelands. Do they have superpowers? Where do their instruments come from? So many questions! So much worldbuilding potential!

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EVERYTHING PLEASE. Iirc, this is in continuity with Le retour du roi, but feel free to ignore that if you want to. I’m really curious about what the narrator’s life is like after the battle is over. The song seems to imply the battle is about honour, so did the narrator manage to protect the honour of the ancestors? I’m just really curious about everything about this song. It’d make a great fantasy and/or historical AU, I think. Is la tribu de Dana (the tribe of Dana) the Tuatha de Danann?
