I'm having one of those days, so someone reassure me: people would rather have a yuletide treat that was written between now and th 25th than no treat at all, right?

...Right?

Also, I've still got a bunch of open days for The Meme Formerly Known As December Talking Meme, in case anyone feels like asking me stuff.

Absolutely!

There are a couple of treats that I want to write that I'm unfortunately pretty sure I won't be able to finish before the 25th, but I'm telling myself that people will still be happy to receive gift fic later.

Man, Yuletide treats are *meant* to be written in a big rush in the couple of days between when the prompts are officially revealed and when the archive opens. The "madness" collection was originally just stories written in under 24 hours! It's the people who start them early who are doing it wrong. :P

I think the correct answer to any Yuletide-related question is always the one that results in more fic. I mean, don't do yourself in trying to fit in a treat if you really don't have the time/juice, but your recip (and other people who love the thing!) will definitely be excited to have one more thing than they expected waiting at reveals!

Of course. Why didn't I realise that?

All the treat writing, then!

Of course! I've never been able to tell the difference between last-minute treats and two-month-long assignments, unless the author says so in the tags or notes.

Most wonderful! I'll go ahead and write some treats, then.

I agree. How the sausage gets made doesn't really matter, what matters is the result (OK, well, please don't tell me it's made out of one thing and lie, or kill innocent people to make the sausage, or well, I'm going to let this overextended metaphor die here.)

Chiming in late, but yes, yay, treats! IT IS SO EXCITING TO ME TO WATCH THE NUMBERS GO UP. And I am so grateful for the Night on Fic Mountain story you wrote for me in, like, a day.
