I am pretty sure everyone knows what a fanvid is already, but for the sake of clarity, a fanvid is when someone takes images from a canon they're fannish about and puts music on it. Toy Soldiers (below) is an example.

But I'm not hear to talk about fanvids. I'm hear to talk about the opposite: animatics, ie someone takes music they're fannish about and puts images on it. THEY DRAW ENTIRE VIDS (and even occasionally animate?!) I find the amount of effort involved absolutely mindblowing, even when no actual animation is happening.
Here are five I found relatively recently, that I think show a good spread of what animatics are like. Wrote down the names of the songs, below the vid embeds.
"Way Down Hadestown" from the Hadestown musical
"I Know Those Eyes/This Man is Dead" from the Count of Monte Cristo musical
"The Night" by Voltaire
"The Mariner's Revenge Song" by the Decemberists
"Ready As I'll Ever Be" from Tangled: The Series
"The Plagues" from the Prince of Egypt movie
Plagues goes SO HARD as a song.
