1. A comic I read in 2016 (for Reading Wednesday):
Captain Britain and the Mighty Defenders 1 & 2, by Al Ewing (writing) and Alan Davis (art) : I liked this a lot. I've said it before, but I really really REALLY enjoyed Battleworld. I loved the opportunity to see more about how it worked and there's a lot of GREAT character stuff in these two issues. I need to read more with Faiza (okay, so I read this to know if I should bother tracking down the other Mighty Defenders series, and yep, sounds like it might be worth it).

Seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters all those years ago was extremely cathartic.

I know a lot of people don't like the Star Wars prequels, but I can't be objective about them. For they are forever redeemed by being there, in that dark room, facing that big screen and thinking oh. someone gets it. Nothing else has ever gotten that knife edge of despair and fury, where I sometimes find myself. Anakin Skywalker is my cautionary tale, if you want.

(For the record: I love him so much but OH MY GOD HE IS A STUPID MURDER NOODLE. And tbh, I feel like anything I might have to say about Anakin Skywalker, I've already said in both/either Five people on StarKiller Base who didn't listen to Anakin Skywalker (and one who did) and Cloak of Night, respectively 3k of Anakin + TFA folks (& Anakin + Obi-Wan gen) and 2k of Leia + Vader gen.)

In theory I like arranged marriages, because I am all about people finding friendship in unexpected circumstances, but in practice it rarely works for me.

That is the best snippet--great last line.

And I hear you--I have relatives in perfectly happy arranged marriages, but as a trope it often doesn't do much for me.

Interesting! I grew up on the original trilogy, so the prequels didn't resonate as well for me, but it was interesting seeing who Darth Vader was before.

murder noodle is definitely the way to put it, ahahaha.

I have the opposite experience -- I suppose nostalgia plays a factor.

There is a saying, on Tattooine, that says a man never climbs the same dune twice. It is not the same dune, he is not the same man.

He makes different choices, this time around. That does not mean he makes better coices.

Ooh someone else who liked Battleworld. I really loved all the different permutations. The Mighty Defenders stuff is good.

I love Battleworls SO MUCH. It gave excellent Doctor Doom and all the various AUs were great. I especially loved Angela and Siege as titles (on top of Mighty Defenders and the main series) what about you?
