1. Which fictional setting would you put me in, and what sort of role would I play there?

2. Grab the book nearest you, turn to page 117. The second sentence will be your life for 2017.

The book closest to me is in French and on the Paris Commune ("La Commune de Paris racontée par les Parisiens" -- The Paris Commune told by Parisians) so to my very great surprise the second sentence on page 117 involves barricades. I am shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you.

"On fait de formidables barricades, on désarme les gardes nationaux récalcitrants qui auraient pu être des auxiliaires utiles de l'entrée dans Paris."
"We make great barricades, we disarm unwilling national guards who could have been helpful for the entry in Paris." (Translation note: The French pronoun "on" can be either a gender-neutral third person singular pronoun (singular they) or a gender-neutral first person plural pronoun (we) -- I went with "we" because it seemed to make more sense in context.)

I guess I'm taking part in a revolution this year? Works for me.

Closest book in English is Kate Elliot's Cold Magic: "Curling Gap, the depot sign said."

I guess we know where my barricade's going to be, folks.

I'm really I manage to make this crack-y concept work even a little, but I am even happier that I managed to post this fic after it languished for literal years on my hard drive. Sometimes I get weird about posting fic, idk.

According to the wishes of the artist, every piece is presented as it might have been at the time of its inception.

As weird as I can get about posting fic, I get so much weirder about posting art, so I'm really glad I posted this. I love the concept (past-present-future character study through aftermath-leadup-creation of art) and I think I did a decent job with the artwork.

The Oracles on the Delphi Express (10154 words) by sevenofspade

Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, roadtrip
Summary: Annabeth says "yes" where she might once have said "no" and goes on a road trip with Luke. Things go downhill from there.

Just straight up friendship fic roadtrip, with added timetravel (spoilers). I'm really sad it's only got one (pity) comment -- at this point, I would frankly prefer none. ANYWAY. Longest fic I've posted so far and I'm quite proud of that, even if it isn't the best fic in the world. I still think it's good, though.
