Of course I was going to give them happy endings. (Actually, my thought process went something like: I started this back just before CC7 came out or just after, so yeah. It was sparked by a comment on how somebody on ffa kept expecting the YA to end up dead/sold into slavery due to the name. It was originally going to follow the plot of CC in a non-powered, historical context, possibly ending in death/slavery, but then CC8 happened and I was all 'fuck this happy endings for everyone!' and then CC9 happened and my reaction was, and I quote, 'Also, fuck this, they're going after the Ark of the Covenant and gaining goddamn superpowers from it.' BECAUSE FUCK THAT SERIOUSLY)
There was originally going to be a scene of Billy using his alchemy to blow shit up, but then superpowers made that redundant.
