8 episodes is way too short for Doctor Who. The core of the show is the Doctor + Companion(s) relationship(s) and there isn't any time for that in these Disney seasons.
I hate that this is the norm now. I hate that DW has been reduced to conforming to Disney's standards, which yes, bigger budget, but that also means sacrificing time and character development. If they want shorter seasons, then allow them to film them all back-to-back and released at different times of the year, but it shouldn't be a shorter time for different Doctor eras, which based on what recently went down is what happened. I didn't watch, but hearing how short Ncuti Gatwa's run was I was shocked. Wasn't he just cast as the Doctor? Unforgivable.
Fuck shorter seasons, for DW or for any show really. It's like, why bother? Give us back longer seasons, gdi.
Iiirc Gatwa was supposed to stay on for longer but Disney refused to commit either so he made the best decision for him and quit. I loved his Doctor I wish we'd got more of him (and him & Belinda!)
Shorter seasons can be fine for plot-driven shows, but that is not Doctor Who.
