Neil Gaiman is a rapist.

I've been hoping there would eventually be an easier source to link than the original podcast or its unaffiliated transcripts (as of writing July 11, the first 3 of 4 are transcribed), but apparently no news source wants to say something.

I did not listen to the podcast, nor read more than the first episode transcript, because even just that was harrowing and the following episodes get worse (I've read quotes and summaries). Even just that first episode (transcript) was more than enough.

Please someone else cover this, or at least accurately summarise it, just so I don't have to keep debunking the rumours about Tortoise.

Anyway, yes, really fucking disappointing.

Yeah. I've read the first three transcripts. It's awful.

I'm feeling sad for the survivors (for what they went through at the time and the difficulty they're probably going through now with the release of the podcast). Sad for more survivors we probably don't know about yet. Sad for survivors overall who may see the ugliest parts of people's response to the news. And also sad for everyone who was invested in Gaiman's work and the image he projected.

I have too many feelings about too many other things right now to have any about this. I am full up. I will cry and rage at a later date.

It's awful. And people are falling over themselves to commit the two logical fallacies that happen ("He didn't do it"/"His stuff was never that good"--obviously the first is heinous.)

And the media is just ignoring it. It's making me feel sick.

As someone who was mostly neutral about him (not attached to him as a public figure though enjoyed some of his works), this whole thing is disappointing though not surprising.

I'm barely present on Dreamwidth at the best of times and was never a fan of Gaiman myself, so I initially read this post without commenting, but I find myself coming back because the complete wall of silence around this whole thing is increasingly disheartening and depressing. I really don't expect individuals in fandom to feel obliged to post on things like this, but the blanket silence from all the SFF/comics pros and outlets I usually see being all over this kind of news and loud about it is just really grim.

So I guess this is just a comment to say I am also here, having picked up just enough on the periphery to know that this is really awful and finding the complete lack of acknowledgement from people who usually talk a lot about this kind of news awful as well.
