The poor souls of the dead
Oct. 15th, 2021 10:58 pmIn the song Chant I from the musical Hadestown (happy to very reccomend, btw) there's a part, at about 56s in, I always heard as "Then I kept that furnace fed / With the poor souls of the dead".
I've been listening to this song a lot recently because (a) it's fucking great and (b) it has relevant ~vibes~ to something I'm working on. AT some point I started mishearing it as "Then I kept that furnace fed / With the possums of the dead", which makes very little sense. At least to me.
In the hope of de-earworming myself from the possums, I listened to the song while reading the lyrics and found out I had been hearing it wrong THE WHOLE TIME. It's actually "Then I kept that furnace fed / With the fossils of the dead"
In other psychopomp news, the currently being crowdfunded artbook Memento Mori : An Artbook of Death Guides looks quite nice.
I am also extremely charmed by The Deadlands' Ask A Necromancer advice (?) column.
