A post about things
Oct. 2nd, 2015 08:33 pmI wrote 750+ words in under an hour today. (I had one more hour to write, but given that that would have been the output for the total time, I ended up misreading my watch and leaving early. I was put out when I found out, let me tell you.)
I'm getting back into being able to draw. Not just put pencil to paper, but actually do things with poses and draping and composition and all those. I still have a long way to go, but I'll keep going. I'll get there eventually, or I won't. The journey is its own reward.
My Yuletide noms are Ancient Carthaginian History and Mythology RPF (Dido | Elissa (Queen of Carthage), Hannibal Barca, Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus Major, Tanith), Gwen Variants (Marvel Comics Covers) (Gwen Stacy | Dr Gwenge (Secret Wars #3 Gwen Variant Cover), Gwen Stacy | Gwen of Thunder (Thors #1 Gwen Variant Cover), Gwen Stacy | Gweneto (Magneto #19 Gwen Variant Cover), Gwen Stacy | Gwenverine (Old Man Logan #2 Gwen Variant Cover)) and 신의 | Faith | The Great Doctor (Choi Young, Hwasuin, Jang Bin, Yoo Eun Soo).
I feel like that needs some explanation. Not the first one (yeah, nobody's surprised by that one) or even the last one (I need to tell y'all about this show, I swear), but the middle one.
Back in June, Marvel did a set of variant covers featuring Gwen Stacy as various Marvel supers. I'm going to post the ones I nommed, both as covers and in a textless version. (I am so excited to get to read/write in this fandom!)
( 8 images under the cut )
(I find the differences between the lettered and textless versions really interesting from an artistic standpoint.)
The first book of short stories I remember reading is Garth Nix's Across the Wall. I had skipped the opening novella, already having read it as a standalone book, so to me that book is just "other stories", not "a tale of the Abhorsen and". In that book, there's a bit of introduction to every short story -- why it was written, how it got published, etc... I've missed those introductions in every single short story anthlogy I've read since them (I'm reading one right now).
There are people I'm missing right now who I'm missing so hard it can feel it in my bones.
