Warring stars

I have a couple of Star Wars related things so I might as well toss them all up in one post.
Yesterday, there was talk about "what would your fandoms be fannish about" over at
ushobwri and I went with various Star Wars characters. I basically made it all up on the spot and there would have been less music involved if I had given it some thought.
Anakin likes opera, especially the bombastic full blown-brass kind (think space!Wagner) but utterly despises ballet, which makes that one scene in 3/RotS epic trolling on Palpatine's part. Anakin loving opera is 100% Obi-Wan's fault, except Obi-Wan is more into space!Verdi. They both agree on space!Puccini being awesome.
Rey loves romans-fleuves/novel sequences/pulp serials; she reads whatever she can get her hands on and she loves making up the stories of what happened between the bits she does get to read (Jakku isn't the most literate world in the galaxy). She doesn't much like stuff that sticks in one place, no matter how interesting the place, because she wants to see the universe -- she has to stay on Jakku for now, but she can still dream of the stars. The only kind of opera she knows about is the soap opera kind.
Padmé likes whatever the Star Wars equivalent of boys bands is, and wanted to be in a girl band before she was Queen (I feel like Naboo has an idol-like star system). She doesn't like opera all that much, and her tastes tend to align more with Obi-Wan's, but as Senator she gets some of the best seats, so she'll sometimes take Anakin -- but rarely, because their marriage is a secret. She tried taking Obi-Wan along once to obscure things, but that just resulted in people thinking they were having a threesome.
Nobody's sure if Yoda likes polyphony or if he's just realised everyone else hates it and so plays it to be left alone.
Until he left Tatooine, Luke had never heard music more complex than the kind played at the cantina. He's not sure he likes it, but he pretends he does for Leia (and because Han doesn't). The day Luke realised the Skywalker stories -- first human to win a Mos Eisley podrace! killed the Tusken raiders all by himself! -- were not only all true but referred to his father, he felt REALLY BAD about pretending to be Skywalker with Biggs as his damsel in distress. (The less said about the self-insert fanfic the better -- and no, finding out that some of the stories where things Old Ben did instead of Anakin doesn't make things much better.)
When Alderaan got destroyed, Leia started recording every version of every folktale that she knew -- she hates it that she'll never manage to recreate even of fraction of what existed, but something is better than nothing, as Luke is fond of saying. Everyone in the Rebellion makes an effort to understand her cultural references (there is an entire subforum dedicated to keeping track) so she won't feel so utterly alone. The first time someone made a reference back to her -- Jess Pava, about the mad man of the mountains (a folktale half a continent away from Leia's home) -- the general had stilled. The entire base had held its breath, but after a moment it had been back to business. (And if Pava found Threepio bringing her Alderaanian buttercake for breakfast the next morning, no one needs to know.)

Okay, this is slightly weird in that it's a hypothetical question, but it's been bugging me since I came up with the idea. If I where to write the Hannibal/Scipio circa the Clone Wars fic, what would I tag it?
To simplify the bit of the plot that bugs me: basically Hannibal gets to be Senator for Tatooine* and is working with Padmé to abolish slavery. The Hutts try to have him killed so he gets a Jedi bodyguard like Padmé did in 2/AotC (enter Scipio). Palpatine is stonewalling the abolition of slavery (it was only abolished post-6/RotJ in canon) which causes 1) Hannibal to abolish it his own damn self and declaring independance/joining the Separatists and 2) Anakin to realise maybe he shouldn't listen to Palpatine so much and him not going Full VaderTM.
(No guarantee that I could ever write this -- and no one would read it if I did -- but I have having alot of fun coming up with various subplots. There's Hannibal wanting to meet Anakin because he was the first human to win the Mos Eisley podrace, for example. Idk yet if Order 66 happens here or not, but if it does Scipio ends up surviving because he was tracking down Hannibal on account of feeling personally betrayed by Hannibal defecting from the Republic on his watch.)
*On account of how Tatooine's based on/was filmed in Tataouine, Tunisia.
It's basically a fusion/crossover that leads into canon-divergence. How the fuck do you tag this?!
Also how does one find fics in megafandoms?! There are literally thousands, help.
Have a prequels vid for putting up with me this long. Also,
maythe4thbewithyou sign-ups have opened. As soon as I find some free time I'll sign up. (You can tell I am RL swamped from how I start posting ridic LJ/DW posts.)

/Also how does one find fics in megafandoms?! There are literally thousands, help./ - If you're in need of recs I've been collecting my favorite fanworks on my pinboard. Here's the Star Wars tag. Newer stuff is mostly all TFA. ;)

Date: 2016-02-17 10:06 pm (UTC)I cannot make heads or tails of the political situation on Tatooine. Best I can tell it's nominally in the Republic (then the Empire) but in practice is completely overtaken/ruled by the Hutts. I kind of want to make a parallel with the Walled City of Kowloon: "With no government enforcement from the Chinese or the British aside from a few raids by the Hong Kong Police, the Walled City became a haven for crime and drugs." -> no Republic armed forces/police/etc ever go to Tatooine (or the Outer Rim in general) so it's become a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
I'm not sure I even need Hannibal to be a Senator, now that I think about it. A lot of the plot can work if he's an activist instead -- and the bit about declaring the independance of Tatooine might work even if he's not, provided Padmé (ie Naboo, ie the Chancellor) recognises it as a sovereign body. I may need to look more deeply into Star Wars politics.
Thank you! That's very helpful.
