I'm alive

I finally remembered my livejournal account password.

Brief summary of the last year and a half or so: Medschool is going meh, I've started watching Supernatural, Lost Girl, Leverage, Eternal Law, Sherlock and continued watching Doctor Who. and Torchwood. I've read dozens of books (if not more) and hundreds of fics (again, probably more). I've read comics. I've not drawn as much as I would like. I've written upwards of 30k words but have not finished more than one or two things (oops).

That's mostly it, really.

Medschool: Is very tiring and surprisingly boring, although that has, in general, more to do with the teachers than the subjects.

Supernatural: I've heard it called the "Sam'n'Dean Show", but to be honest, I don't really care all that much about Sam and Dean. I think the secondary characters are much more interesting. I find the female characters pretty awesome but I'm disappointed with how few of them there are. Mostly, I only watch the episodes with characters I care about. And I don't really care about spoilers.

Lost Girl: It's about a succubus and her (female) best friend being detectives in the Toronto Fae community (or at least, I think it's Toronto). There are a lot of awesome characters and I like basically everyone. I also like how varied the Fae are. The writers pull creatures from all sorts of myths under the umbrella of "Fae". I watch all the episodes since Kenzi's my favourite and she's in all the episodes, being one of two leads (the human one). I really wish there was more fic and fan interest.

Leverage: This my happy show. Every episode puts this huge, goofy smile on my face so I watch all of them. It's smart, it's funny, the characters are really likeable, what more do you want? Okay, more seriously. I like that the hacker is a black man and a geek who plays WoW, makes SF/F jokes and downloads Doctor Who. I like that the catburglar thinks illegal downloading is wrong, has trouble with speaking to people and tries to do the right thing, even if she's not sure what it is. I like that the hitter cooks and has his own garden and says DAMMIT HARDISON and "It's a very distinctive sound/print/etc" a lot and that he's insulted when he has to fight bad fighters. I like that the grifter is a femme fatale despite (or because) she's a forty-something woman with curves and that she's one the team counts on to make sure they're okay. I like that the mastermind gets called on his bullshit when he needs it. I like that they're all broken, in their different ways, but that they've made their own family.

Eternal Law: I've only watched two episodes so far. I don't really care about the plot, but the characters are nice. Richard, in particular, is quite enjoyable and a huge troll.

Sherlock: I watch it for the secondary characters and out of morbid fascination. I really don't care about Moffat's storytelling.

Doctor Who (S5, 6a and 6b): Not a fan of Moffat's, so I didn't enjoy most of these episodes very much. They're entertaining, but that's it (and not as clever as they think they are). On the whole, I liked S5 more than S6 but my favourite episode of those two seasons was probably the girl who waited.

Torchwood Miracle Day: I started watching because I thought the concept was interesting (suddenly, no one dies). I liked all the Health System things and the very creepy burn chambers. Esther Drummond, Jilly Kitzinger and Dr. Vera Juarez were my favourites, especially Vera.

Books: Nation, some Discworld, Dresden Files, Karen Miller's Empress and sequels, God of clocks, Warbreaker, Young Wizards and others I can't remember. I've started reading the Kalevala, Paradise Lost and the Poetic Edda.

Comics: Sillage, Young Avengers, Journey Into Mystery, Ash, La Quete du Graal, Freak's Squeele, Black Butler, Liar Game, Le Chat du Rabbin, Lucifer, Arawn, La Geste des chevaliers dragons, L'Histoire secrete, Les Quatre de Baker Street and others. A mix of bande déssinée, manga and (North-American) comics, basically.

Writing: Mostly original stuff with some fic thrown in. I have an ao3 account here with one thing on it. Hopefully, I'll finish more stuff this year.
