I was having a bad day of the "well i might as well just quit everything and fandom especially since nothing i do ever pleases anyone does anyone even like plotty fic no they do not why do i bother i know i can't do shippy i am a failure as a fan" type but then I drew some stuff and watched Mission Cléopatre so I'm feeling better. Not great, but better.

(Just so you don't worry: I'll be gone tomorrow evening and should catch up on the -- has it been a week already? -- week or so of posts and comments I missed soon.)

ANYWAY! Upcoming fannish stuff I'm excited about!

ROGUE ONE! I still have a most terrible case of the Star Wars, lmao (you should see my WIP folder). Things I got out of this trailer: Jyn Erso! MON MOTHMA! Jyn Erso/Mon Mothma! Admiral Fancy Cape! Jyn Erso in Imperial uniform! Voice-over guy! SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!

The things I want from this movie are basically the same and I'm really hoping fandom delivers on both the femslash and villain/hero shipping. OR BOTH. Both is good. (A fandom person can dream of Imperial!Jyn/Rebel!Mon, okay. Let me liiiiiiiiiiiiive)

I decided it was time I got a Star Wars icon, so now I do (on DW).


DID YOU KNOW CLOAK AND DAGGER ARE GETTING A TV SHOW? Now you do. I am so happy about this, I love Cloak and Dagger a lot. They were awesome in Ults Spidey. I enjoy seeing them show up in any/everything. (The TV show won't go that way, but 1602 Witch Hunter Angela has THE BEST interpretation of their origin story.)

ALSO I really like the Captain America: Civil War - In Good Company featurette.

I generally like plotty fic much better than shippy fic. So your fic will have at least an audience of one. =P

That is a GIANT relief to hear. I guess the plotty Hannibal/Scipio AU will have at least one reader, yay.

Dude I ~love plotty fic and I wish there would be so much more of it, gen especially. Some of my main fandoms right now are really bad at producing gen fic and all there is is shipping and maaaaan I really miss good, gen character introspection. :/

I'm hoping Free Comic Book Day has its usual good sales and I can get it then. I own the other three.

Hmm, I'm assuming Jyn is Rey's mom and I'm cool with that...plus, it would explain why a film would revolve around her and not...Shara Bey who could pull off the same thing. I'm really hoping for at least a hint of Shara Bey and Kes Dameron...if Diego Luna could be Kes Dameron, that could be great. But the whole film makes me "uncontrollably excited" and I hope it doesn't disappoint...especially since it's basically like Disney gave me a birthday present even though I'll probably see it the day before...but if it's good enough, maybe I'll see it twice!

I don't know, I think I'd like it if not everyone important in Star Wars was related -- I kind of what Rey to be related to NO ONE EVER she's just a baby that the Force spontaneously generated. Would love to see Poe's parents though.

I can't do shippy either. I am baffled as to why that's the fandom first choice thing, really: of all the myriad plot twists that could happen, the only one you are supposed to know going in is that X will have sex with Y, even though X and Y are not yet aware of it!

YES ME TOO and tbh it just seems like the most boring part of the story, maybe BECAUSE it's the one part where you get the endgame upfront. There's no mystery left.

If you are a failure, then so am I, since gen is my best favorite. I think people like a lot of different things and depending on the fandom it can be hit or miss whether your stuff gets seen, and whether people seem to like it.

I was all set to not care about Rogue One, as I am with most SW stuff outside the core movies, but then I saw a gif of Jyn on Tumblr and I was like, oh no she's hot, and then I had to watch the trailer, and now I'm really excited for it. I didn't realize they were going to have a female protagonist for Rogue One, and I'm really happy that they are.

can I ship Jyn/Leia yet does that make sense

Jyn is really hot, especially all in black at the end. Female protagonists in Star Wars never fail to make me SUPER HAPPY.
