WGN's Underground

WATCH THIS SHOW.

Seriously. Do yourself a favour and watch this show. It's got 10 episodes of 45 minutes each so far and was renewed for a second season.

The above trailer makes it seem like it's Noah's (Aldis Hodge) story, but I think it's more Rosalee's (Jurnee Smollett-Bell).

My favourite characters are Rosalee, Cato and Elizabeth for the adults and Boo, Ben and Henry for the kids.

I love how brave and kind Rosalee and Elisabeth are and Cato's commitment to his top hat aesthetic.

I want to take a moment to feel smug that the show is totally on board with Rosalee/Cato. Called it, [livejournal.com profile] brigdh ! (I love the Rosalee/Cato/Noah OT3 too, tbh.)

I am going to go with "no body, no death" for Certain Characters. I was all set to do it to two other characters, but as of the end of the episode, they are canonically alive!

THE FINALE WAS AMAZING FROM START TO FINISH

BUT THEN

BUT THEN

SERIOUSLY WATCH THIS SHOW

It's totally Rosalee's story. Someone somewhere mentioned that season 1 is basically her superhero origin story, YES.

Even if Henry is alive, he's probably been re-captured... or maybe he's with the Native Americans? I've got to admit I never completely understood how they fit into the picture, seemed a bit deus ex machina to me.

I've heard so many good things about this show and will catch it as soon as I get the thesis monster off my back!

Also Harriet Tubman. HARRIET. FUCKING. TUBMAN. *inarticulate screaming*

Yay another thing to look forward to! Yay Harriet Tubman! You also know about the Combahee River Raid, right? It's been making the rounds on Tumblr including on my blog, but the New York Times has a fuller account that I like even better. I want to see this made into a movie SO MUCH.

I look forward to watching it!

Maybe the raid will feature in Season 2 of the show! *fingers crossed*
