Acting (or, rather, overacting)

I loved/hated this movie. For every moment of world building and girl power that I loved there would be a totally incoherent plotline and weird homophobic/sexist moment that I hated. But, as a whole, I was super-excited by what was presented and would spend days reading/writing fan fiction for the world. For certain.

BUT, my main gripe was really the woodenness of the acting on almost all counts (the captain of the spaceship and Titus's right-hand gal being the exceptions). I've never seen Chatum be so un-charismatic. Mila Kunis gave Star Wars prequel worthy line readings. They had no chemistry. Balem was just plain ridiculous.

I feel like they spent 95% of their energy and time on world building and then 5% on the script. "I like dogs" is the only memorable line in the whole film and it was delivered TERRIBLY.

Okay, I'm meandering here - but I just wanted this movie to be better. So much so I almost have to see it again just to make sure I'm not wrong.

Regardless, your review was a delight and I was tickled to learn about the vous/tu difference between the characters. Merci!
