Agreed with both you and [personal profile] alasse_irena, it's a peeve of mine. Different dialects do use a number of different words and have different cadence, which should be more than enough. It's easier in Korean since the diction is very different between dialects, the verbs especially using the same roots but different conjugation. Someone from Seoul might say haet-seo-yo? for "you did?" while someone from the southwest might say haet-shu?
