8 episodes is way too short for Doctor Who. The core of the show is the Doctor + Companion(s) relationship(s) and there isn't any time for that in these Disney seasons.

I have not seen any of the latest season but I fully agree; if they want shorter seasons they really need to keep the same Doctor + companion(s) for several so we get to see that relationship grow and develop.

1. too pell-mell for me
2. too focused on making a spectacle
3. too short-sighted to have a mythos that is cohesive
4. too reliant on deux ex machina that doesn't actually even make sense inside the episode sometimes

It's a fun enough romp, but it does NOT feel like Doctor Who to me. Even when I love the actors involved.

I hate that this is the norm now. I hate that DW has been reduced to conforming to Disney's standards, which yes, bigger budget, but that also means sacrificing time and character development. If they want shorter seasons, then allow them to film them all back-to-back and released at different times of the year, but it shouldn't be a shorter time for different Doctor eras, which based on what recently went down is what happened. I didn't watch, but hearing how short Ncuti Gatwa's run was I was shocked. Wasn't he just cast as the Doctor? Unforgivable.

Fuck shorter seasons, for DW or for any show really. It's like, why bother? Give us back longer seasons, gdi.

Yeah. I've been enjoying the space adventure part. But we barely got to know either of them. 😕
