I use a lot of cinnamon because I cook a lot of Indian food but you're right, USAmericans do seem to believe in belongs in ALL desserts and quite a few drinks as well.
I have a colleague who's actually allergic to cinnamon so it makes a lot of restaurants difficult to navigate.
